LIL NAS X TROLLS TARGET AFTER IT REMOVES PRIDE MERCH OVER RIGHT-WING BACKLASH

Lil Nas X never misses a good opportunity to troll, and he’s taken aim at Target after the company removed some of its LGBTQIA+ merchandise amid backlash from right-wingers.

On Wednesday (May 24), Target announced the changes to its Pride Month collection, noting it had removed certain merch to protect its employees as they were receiving threats. In response, Nas X shared some words on Twitter the following day.

“can’t believe target is supporting this nonsense,” he sarcastically wrote. “im never shopping there again, my son is not ‘too cool for school’ these shirts are ridiculous. he is going to school and he WILL learn.”

In a statement about the products’ removal, Target explained its reasoning. “Since introducing this year’s collection, we’ve experienced threats impacting our team members’ sense of safety and well-being while at work,” the company said in a statement.

It continued: “Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior. Our focus now is on moving forward with our continuing commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and standing with them as we celebrate Pride Month and throughout the year.”

While Lil Nas X was doing the trolling this time, he was recently on the receiving end as he filmed an episode for the new season of The Eric André Show.

In the teaser video for the upcoming season premiere — which dropped on Monday (May 22) — the “Old Town Road” performer comes out swinging, asking the comedian provocative questions like: “Do you believe in the Illuminati?”

But by the end of the clip, André turns the tables on Lil Nas X, eventually concluding by asking questions with drool dripping out of his mouth.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” he asked André.

André told Rolling Stone that despite Lil Nas X’s reputation of being a professional troll, he was deeply affected by the way things went. “It was great because he’s very sensitive, so he was easily affected by every prank we threw at him. He’s kind of the ideal guest,” he said.

The Eric André Show premieres on Cartoon Network’s adult swim on June 4.
