LIL DURK TURNS TO ALICIA KEYS FOR ‘THERAPY’ AS HE DROPS NEW VIDEO

As Lil Durk gears up to release his new album, Almost Healed, he’s enlisted Alicia Keys to give him a therapy session of sorts.

In a doubleheader video from the Chicago rapper that dropped on Thursday (May 25), the “Fallin’” singer plays the part of a therapist on “Therapy Session,” where she’s seen asking Durkio (as the patient) to revisit some old trauma.

“Can you tell me where was your mind when you heard the news of your friend Von passing away on November 6, 2020?” she asked, softly. “And then the loss of your brother on June 6, 2021?”

Keys then cuts away into more current events. “It’s been a year and I wanna know how you feel about the rap beef on top of all the chaos?”

After Keys remarks that she wants to hear from Durk, the video cuts to “Pelle Coat,” which features the rapper dropping off some of his usually deep bars.

“They scared to come outside/ I know why, because they dyin’ for sure/ 2010, winter time, Pelle on, I gotta match the coat/ Shared a room with my cousin, I snuck and told him I had a gun,” he begins.

“I do believe in my spirits, can’t hop on a Spirit, that flight too long/ YouTube n-ggas tryna paint a picture of me, it never last too long/ Not too much on violence, but n-gga, I’m silent, but n-gga, I’m glad you gone.”

Both tracks will appear on Lil Durk’s upcoming album, Almost Healed, which is set to drop on Friday (May 26).

On Saturday (May 20), Spotify’s RapCaviar posted a graphic on Instagram revealing the list of producers who have contributed to Smurk’s upcoming project, who include Metro Boomin, Alicia Keys, Southside, Wheezy, Zaytoven, ATL Jacob and CuBeatz, among others.

On the artists’ side, Lil Durk has recruited Future, J. Cole, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Juice WRLD, controversial country music singer Morgan Wallen, Rob49 and Chief Wuk.

Almost Healed will mark Lil Durk’s first project since 2022’s 7220, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 120,000 first-week sales.

Almost Healed was originally titled The Voice 2.0, indicating it was the sequel to his 2020 album. During an interview with XXL in April, Lil Durk explained his vision for the project.

“Growth,” he said. “That’s what the 2.0 stand for, just be on another level. Just not only music-wise, like the things around me like I told you, growing from the friends around me, management. Sitting with the mayor. We doin’ big charity things. Neighborhood Heroes, the foundation I got.

“So, we just doing different things, ’cause if you say you ‘the voice,’ it’s like, OK, ‘you the voice of the streets,’ so what happened? What you do? I did this, this, cool. OK, now what you do for the kids? Nah’m sayin’?”

He added: “So, now we just breaking it down. So, we doing this, we doing this, we doing this. Not only on Thanksgiving, not only on Christmas, just on a regular basis, helping people.”
