Emmanuel Atta Ofori, the Kwahu South District Chief Executive (DCE)said the assembly will soon start the construction of boreholes and install hand pumps to ensure regular supply of water in communities.
He said the beneficiary communities would include; Bepong, Mansohyidiem, Gyaekasa, Osubeng, Atobease, Praso, Obo, Obomeng and Subenso.
Speaking during the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region, the DCE said, providing potable water to the people was paramount
He said the assembly would provide more of the boreholes at vantage points in hard-to-reach areas to protect the people from water-borne diseases.
He said the assembly also contributed to the development of other communities in the district, with the provision of educational, health and other services.
In terms of education, he said a three- and six-units classroom blocks with, libraries and ancillary facilities were constructed and handed over to Bebong, Asakraka and Kwafour D/A and secondary schools to help provide quality education.
Mr Atta-Ofori said, the assembly provided a community-based Health and Planning Service compound for inhabitants of Obo and Besease communities for the promotion of quality healthcare services.
He said the assembly also constructed marketing centres at Asikam, Atuobikrom, Asubone, KwahuPraso and Mpraeso to promote the socio- economic activities of the inhabitants.
The DCE said the assembly would re-gravel all feeder roads, construct storm drains and culverts at Kwasifori and in other communities and supply dual and mono desks to all basic schools in the district.
He urged the assembly members to assist the assembly in executing all earmarked projects by frequently monitoring activities of contractors who would be appointed to handle any of the projects.
