Lynx Entertainment frontman (well, together with KiDi though) is all out on a personal campaign to ensure this fanbase system is abolished since it’s gradually becoming a recipe for disaster in the music industry.
In an interview with Prince Tsegah, aka Da Don on Hitz FM, Kuami Eugene said fanbases don’t augur well for the development of the industry and premised his argument on the infamous brawl which erupted at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
He argued that nothing of that sort exists in Nigeria, reason they are far ahead of their Ghanaian counterparts musically.
What happened at the VGMAS between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale was basically because of fanbase. Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy’s fight at the VGMAS over awards was all because of their fans.
If not because they wanted to please their fans , I’m not sure they would worry themselves to fight over an award. This fanbase thing won’t help us,” the serial hit maker lamented.
Kuami Eugene added; “When King Promise, KiDi, Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale is doing a show, I’ll urge every Ghanaian to go. I don’t want Shatta movement to come to my show and I won’t get BHIM or Sark nation there.
I just don’t second the notion that we live in this small country with not even 50 million people but there are lots of nations in this small nation.”
