Kodak Black and French Montana are looking to turn their collaborative chemistry into a full-length album.
In a video that surfaced online on Tuesday (August 2), Kodak revealed plans to release a joint effort with the Coke Boys capo in the near future, hailing the project as “top rope.”
“Me and French Montana gon’ fucking around and drop an album soon,” he said in the clip. “My album — Spotify, make sure you playlist that shit. I mean, fuck everybody. Playlist my shit. My shit be top rope. Me and French Montana shit top rope, too.”
French Montana confirmed the news by reposting the video on his Twitter and Instagram pages with the caption, “KODAC X MONTANA ALBUM SHEEEESH [exploding head emoji] coming soon.”

Kodak Black and French Montana have proven to be a winning partnership in recent years, teaming up on songs like “Lockjaw,” “Lifestyle” alongside Kevin Gates and “Mopstick,” as well as DJ Khaled’s “Pick These Hoes Apart.”
“Lockjaw” was certified double platinum in 2019, while the duo’s “Mopstick” video was co-signed by Drake following its release earlier this year.
Despite their on-wax success, French named Kodak as one of his most unusual collaborative experiences in a 2020 interview with Big Boy, revealing the Florida rapper barely spoke to him during the shooting of their “Lockjaw” video.
“Me and him didn’t have, like, one conversation when we shot the video,” he said with a laugh. “I just looked at him and he growled at me. That’s my dawg, man. Shout out to Kodak. But you know, we was getting lit, we was drinking. He live that rock star life. He about that life.”
Kodak Black scored his third top three album with Back For Everything in February, home to his platinum-certified hit “Super Gremlin.” He’s also guested on some of the year’s biggest rap albums including Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Future’s I NEVER LIKED YOU and Gunna’s DS4Ever.
However, Yak’s 2022 has also been marred by trouble. In February, he was struck in the leg by a stray bullet outside a Super Bowl party in Los Angeles. A drug trafficking arrest followed in July, resulting in the 25-year-old rapper being placed on house arrest.
French Montana, meanwhile, threw his hat into the “rap album of the year” ring in June with Montega, a full-length collaboration with his longtime producer Harry Fraud. The project boasted appearances from Rick Ross, Quavo, Jadakiss, Benny The Butcher, EST Gee and more.
The Bronx native’s 2022 hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing either. In May, he was ordered to pay almost $130,000 to a man who was bitten by his dog, while in January he lost a $250,000 bet after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crashed out of the NFL playoffs.
