Music star King Ayisoba is out with visuals for his latest song titled ‘Batakari’, which features other music icons such as Wiyaala and Atongo.
‘Batakari’ is the local name for smock, and Ayisoba has been explaining why he chose that title for the new song.
“Batakari is important because it is our handmade product and that is why every year I organise a festival to celebrate ‘batakari’ wear. So that is why I did this song, not just to promote ‘batakari’, but to tell Ghanaians and Africans that we need to go back to promoting our culture and handmade products; even ‘kente’ and other traditional wear,” he said.
“If ‘batakari’ is well promoted across Ghana, it can serve as a source of employment for a lot of people. Once there is a huge demand for it, people who are skilled in making ‘batakari’ will get themselves busy. Also, a lot of people who haven’t been to school can learn how to make ‘batakari’ and begin producing it as a trade,” he also added.
The ‘Batakari’ song comes off Ayisoba’s upcoming album titled ‘Good Thing God Knows’, which features other artistes such as Ras Kuuku and Yaa Pono. The album will officially be out after July 2019.
Prior to that, Ayisoba revealed that an album tour in Europe in June will be used to promote Ghana’s ‘batakari’ to world.
