Kikuu, Quietly Positioning Itself to Become Africa’s First Mobile Commerce UNICORN

Mobile commerce has truly become a global phenomenon with the advent of KiKUU, a China-based discovery commerce B2C marketplace App. Only one year after launching, this dark horse quietly but quickly became the largest China-Africa cross-border e-commerce platform, accumulating nearly 200,000 users and more than 20,000 daily orders across 6 African markets.

KiKUU saw opportunities in Africa when others saw pitfalls. First, with a population of 1.2 billion people, Africa is home to one-sixth of the world’s population yet it has been long overlooked and under-served. Recent developments, however, have propelled “The Lost Continent” onto the global mobile commerce stage. Secondly, figures from the GSM Association indicated that Africa is now the fastest-growing market for smartphones. This means African consumers by-passed the PC-Internet period and jumped straight into the mobile-Internet era with no burdened “PC-to-Mobile” transition. For the first time African consumers of all gender and age can directly participate in the explosive growth of global mobile commerce, putting it on-par with the developed nations. Thirdly one key factor that fueled KiKUU’s strong growth is the continents’ lack of selection of finished goods with consumers clamoring for quality and affordable products; from clothing, hardware, accessories, electronics, small appliances, the list goes on. KiKUU has smartly addressed consumers’ needs that traditional import commerce simply can not fulfill, providing a broad selection of products, availability, affordable pricing, door-to-door delivery, online payment, and mobility.

“We are a bold game-changing player with strategic advantages: selection, availability, and service. All of these add up to superior customer experience, as seen by our high Repeat Purchase Rate,” said KiKUU CEO Mr. Xu Zheng.

With presence across 6 African markets and access to over hundreds of local logistics personnel, KiKUU employs an agile yet quickly expandable business model able to complete the “heavy-lifting” based on its growth needs. This tested system has been successfully deployed across Congo, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, and Nigeria, making KiKUU the new leader of cross-border App commerce.
