Kid Cudi Remembers Virgil Abloh On Anniversary Of His Death

Spread the love

Monday marks the one-year anniversary since the tragic loss of design savant Virgil Abloh, who passed away on November 28, 2021, following a private two-year bout with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Kid Cudi was a close friend of Virgil’s and Cudder paid tribute to the Off-White creator on Twitter.

“1 year you’ve been gone. I love you My hero Virgil,” he wrote in a post featuring a photo of the late Louis Vuitton artistic director.

Fellow Chicago designer and G.O.O.D. Music affiliate Don C. also paid homage to Virgil Abloh by posting a clip–which featured an appearance from Kid Cudi–where Virgil is gifting Don a customized pair of Louis Vuitton sneakers.

“LoVe and miss you dearly #virgilforever (this 1st pair from the factory will be in @faamfamily),” Don wrote.

Shortly after his death last year, Kid Cudi shared his final conversation with Virgil where he gave the designer his flowers via text.

“Our last text was Saturday morning. Im glad I got to tell u how I felt about u. Im happy u didnt leave here not knowing. I love you Virg FOREVER,” Cudi wrote in the caption.

“Hope u had a great Thanksgiving w/ the fam!” Cudi wrote. “So thankful to have u in my life. Love u brother.”

“Mad love for you my G,” Virgil responded. “Did you get a fitting time yet?”

“Not yet!! But they sent the fit. Shits fire,” Cudi said, ending the conversation.

he outfit Cudi was talking about with Virgil could have been the one he wore to the designer’s 2021 memorial event at Art Basel in Miami, Florida. The Louis Vuitton “Virgil Was Here” Spring/Summer 2022 collection showcase had guests from the music and fashion industry come together to remember the icon.

There will be an Art Basel festival dedicated to Virgil Abloh next month and Travis Scott has been tapped to headline on December 3 at the FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park in Miami. All profits from the Mirror Mirror Music Festival will be donated to the Virgil Abloh Foundation, which launches next year.
