Kaleo BECE supervisor applauds candidates for being law-abiding

The supervisor of Kaleo Senior High School Examination Centre for the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has applauded the students for being disciplined and law-abiding following the examination instructions given by WAEC.

He was interacting with the media after the English and Religious and Moral Education papers at the Examination Centre at Kaleo in the Nadowli-Kaleo District.

According to the exam supervisor who is also the Deputy Director of Education at the Nadowli-Kaleo District, Mr Abdul Mumuni Yakubu, a total of 1,053 candidates were sitting for the exams with 536 being boys and 517 girls.

He called on the government to prepare for more intakes in free Senior High School because he was optimistic the candidates were adequately prepared and would likely qualify for senior high school.

Mr. Mumuni said the incidence of girls who got pregnant and cannot write the exams has reduced from nine girls in 2018 to seven girls this year, which he described as a great improvement.

“This year’s batch of BECE candidates appeared to be more prepared and discipline than previous batches I handled and I have hope they will all make it into the various senior high schools across the country,” he said.

“It is very impressive that the number of girls who got pregnant and cannot write the exams has decreased from nine girls last year to seven girls this year with three coming from the Kaleo Centre and the other four at the Nadowli Centre.”

He advised parents to take very good care of their children especially the girls to prevent men from taking advantage of their vulnerability to impregnate them as they left school.
