Johnny Depp has made his way back to Instagram after remaining absent from the social media platform for several months.
In a new post shared on Thursday, Nov. 9, the Pirates of the Caribbean star made his long-awaited return with one single, albeit, jolly, snapshot. The actor looked to be in good spirits in the image, as he can be seen outdoors in a field, clapping his hands above his head while shooting a subtle smile toward the camera.
In the caption of the upload, Depp penned a heartfelt note alongside the rare personal picture, also offering a bit of insight on the details of the shot.
“To my dear ‘Modi’ film family, Köszönöm for all your exceptional efforts without which this film could not have been made. Please accept my eternal admiration, appreciation, respect and love, JD. X. [Budapest, 2023],” he wrote in celebration, before giving the photographer credit for the snap: “Photo by Leo Pinter.”
In the comment section, one fan anticipated, “We expected no less from you Johnny????Look forward to seeing Modi❤️❤️.”

Since his last Instagram post in June, the Edward Scissorhands star went MIA from social media, likely focusing on real life and other upcoming projects in the works.
According to Variety, Modì—which is Depp’s second feature film, marking his return to the director’s chair 25 years after The Brave—began shooting in Sept. in Budapest, Hungary, and will star such famous faces as Al Pacino, Riccardo Scamarcio, Antonia Desplat, Stephen Graham, Bruno Gouery, and Italian actress Luisa Ranieri, among others.
The period film takes place in Paris during World War I over 48 turbulent hours “that will become a turning point in his life, ultimately solidifying his reputation as an artistic legend,” according to its synopsis. It is unclear if this update serves as an indication that the project has wrapped.
The actor most recently returned to the big screen following his highly-publicized defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, starring as Louis XV in Maïwenn’s Jeanne Du Barry.
