John Mahama reportedly picks DCOP Kofi Boakye as running mate for 2020 Election
Unconfirmed reports reaching our desk indicates that former president, John Mahama in his quest to return to the seat of the President has picked DCOP Kofi Boakye as his running mate ahead of the 2020 general elections.
John Dramani Mahama was elected by the executives of the National Democratic Congress as their Presidential Candidate for the 2020 general elections last year at the National Primaries.
Several months after getting elected to lead the party to victory in 2020, John Dramani Mahama is yet to announce a running mate after his vice president, Amissah Arthur passed away in a tragic moment.
Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur who was the fifth Vice-President of Ghana’s 4th Republic, in office from 6 August 2012 until 7 January 2017, under John Mahama’s administration died on 29 June 2018 at the 37 Military Hospital after reportedly collapsing at the Air Force Gym during his routine morning workout session.
Though Mahama has not made any official announcement over who he will choose as his running mate, many names have been linked to the running mate position of the National Democratic Congress by political analysts.
John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday. 23rd October 2019 inaugurated his party’s manifesto committee with a charge to help rescue Ghanaians from the Akufo-Addo government and after the launch of the Manifesto team, a new name popped up on the lips of people. The name is DCOP Kofi Boakye.
Though the respected Police Officer has always been linked to the NDC party, naming him as the running mate will be very surprising.
