A new documentary reveals how Jennifer Lopez‘s daughter inspired her performance during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.
The documentary ‘Halftime’, which focuses on Jennifer Lopez‘s preparation for her half-time performance at the Super Bowl in 2020, shows, among other things, how her relationship with daughter Emme and the influence she had on the event.
What did Emme do?
Before the big day when JLo would perform alongside Shakira at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, the teenager took her mother to a dance studio for girls.
The young dancers were overcome with emotion at the sight of the Bronx Diva.
Helped deliver a strong message
The Latina singer was so inspired after seeing the girls at the dance studio that she decided to include them as part of her show, putting them in symbolic cages made of light beams as a protest against former president Donald Trump‘s much-criticised immigration policies.
In ‘Halftime’ you can see how the NFL wanted to remove that part of the show, just a day before it was to take place, but the artist was adamant about getting that message out.
Gave her daughter a moment to shine
Although Jennifer was the queen of the show alongside Shakira, she made sure Emme had a unique and special moment by singing Bruce Springsteen‘s “Born in the USA” alongside her.
Emme began by singing the song, while some of the girls in the dance studio stood behind her.
Others remained in the aforementioned LED light cages, only to be joined by a JLo in a stunning coat representing the Puerto Rican flag on one side and the United States flag on the other.
Where to watch the Jennifer Lopez documentary?
‘Halftime’, which was screened at the opening of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this week, will be available on Netflix from June 14.
