Even happily married couples can occasionally get “the ick,” according to Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager.
On the Dec. 4 episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna, the 43-year-old admitted that even though she’s been married to her husband Henry Hager for 16 years—with the pair first getting together 20 years ago—there are times when she gets the ick.
Hager, Hoda Kotb and guest Justine Lupe discussed an ick-themed plot line on Lupe’s series Nobody Wants This when the topic came up.
“Thankfully, I don’t know if I’ve ever had the ick with someone I’m in love with,” Lupe said. “Because then you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, this is intimacy. This is what we’re doing.’”
Hager took the opportunity to disagree.
“Spoiler alert—because I’ve been with my husband for 20 years—you do get it,” she said. “But there’s so many more un-icks than icks.”

When Lupe asked Hager what Henry did specifically to give her the ick, Kotb jumped in before she could answer.
“No, no, don’t. Don’t!” Kotb cried. “Cause you know what happens, Justine? It gets in Page Six, and she gets in trouble. I’m protecting her from herself.”
Earlier this year, Hager shared her unexpected reaction to other women flirting with her spouse.
“This may be weird. But sometimes I like it when people flirt with Henry,” she said.
When Kotb asked her why, Hager explained that the attention gave her a boost.
“I don’t know. I’m just like, ‘Oh, baby girl’s still got it,'” she explained. “I’m very secure in our relationship. So I’m like, ‘Oh, there you are.'”
