JAY-Z REPORTEDLY INTERESTED IN BUYING WASHINGTON COMMANDERS NFL TEAM

JAY-Z is reportedly among those interested in purchasing the Washington Commanders amid the Snyder family’s potential upcoming sale of the NFL franchise.

Hov is looking to become the first Black owner in the history of the NFL. According to TMZ, JAY-Z has thrown his hat into the ring as a potential buyer of the Washington Commanders. He’s even reportedly entertaining a joint bid for the franchise with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who is also said to be a major player in purchasing the team.

The Roc Nation mogul is worth about $1.3 billion, per Forbes, so he’d most likely need an investment team to complete the ownership transaction since the Commanders are reportedly worth $5.6 billion.

There could be some conflicts of interest for both Hov and Bezos as Jay entered a partnership with the NFL in 2019 as a live entertainment strategist where he produces the Super Bowl halftime show and Bezos’ Amazon purchased the streaming rights to Thursday Night Football starting this season.

JAY-Z was actually forced to sell off his stake in the Brooklyn Nets after launching his Roc Nation Sports agency in 2013.

Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder shocked the NFL community when he and his wife Tanya Snyder confirmed on Wednesday (November 2) that they’ve hired Bank Of America Securities to aid in a potential sale down the line.

“Dan and Tanya Snyder and the Washington Commanders announced today that they have hired BofA Securities to consider potential transactions,” a statement read.

“The Snyders remain committed to the team, all of its employees and its countless fans to putting the best product on the field and continuing the work to set the gold standard for workplaces in the NFL.”

Both Jay and Jeff Bezos were reportedly interested in buying the Denver Broncos before the franchise was sold to the Walton-Penner Group in June for a record $4.65 billion — the largest team sale in U.S. sports history.
