Jadakiss isn’t jumping off the Kanye West bandwagon just yet.
The LOX rapper spoke briefly with TMZ while promoting his new family-inspired coffee line over the weekend, where he shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Kanye.
While many companies and individuals have cut ties with the Chicago rap mogul over his recent anti-Semitic comments, Kiss believes there’s a Yeezy comeback later in the storyline.
“Everybody need to pray for Kanye and let the Lord work it out. He’ll be alright,” he offered. “I’m always for the artists. Some say and do dumb stuff, but I’m always for the artist.”
When asked about whether he believes Ye can redeem himself, Jada replied: “Definitely. They build you up to kick you back down to build you up again.”
However, the Yonkers native also made sure to add that he thinks Kanye should continue to apologize to those he offended before moving on.
Kanye West has faced an increasingly costly backlash over his anti-Semitic rhetoric in recent weeks as adidas, Balenciaga, Def Jam, Vogue, CAA and more have distanced themselves from the rapper.
The termination of his lucrative adidas partnership has also cost Ye his billionaire status, with his $1.9 billion net worth reportedly plummeting to around $400 million.
The G.O.O.D. Music founder was suspended from Instagram again over the weekend due to a series of controversial posts, in which he attacked the mother of George Floyd’s daughter, compared himself to Emmett Till and voiced his support for Kyrie Irving, who has also been criticized for peddling alleged anti-Semitism content online.
Kanye West was also the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch, where the 45-year-old was mocked for unsuccessfully crashing Skechers HQ last week.
As for Kanye and Jadakiss, the two have a long-standing working relationship that dates back to 2004’s “Gettin’ It In,” from Jada’s Kiss of Death LP. More recently, The LOX appeared on “Jesus Lord Pt. 2” alongside Jay Electronica on Ye’s 2021 album DONDA
