This Sunday’s Oscars was definitely one of the most talked-about events in recent times, not cause of the winners or the performances itself but the incident between Superstar actor Will Smith and Comedian Chris Rock. Oscars 2022 saw the rise of 58.8% rise in viewership as compared to last year thanks to the Smith slap which will be echoed in pop culture for the end of time.

The now-viral moment between Chris Rock who made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness, which prompted her husband, Will Smith, to jump on stage and slap the Oscars presenter didn’t only bring viewership to the event it also helped increase the stream of Dreamville’s boss J. Cole’s 2014 song ‘No Role Modelz’ which as we reported earlier holds the record for most days spent on U.S. Spotify’s Daily Charts.

Cole’s lines in the nearly five minutes long song ‘I want a real love, dark-skinned Aunt Viv love/That Jada and that Will love‘ has now become the talk of the town on social media. Interestingly just cause of this single bar Cole’s song has gained momentum following the slapping incident on charts. On 26th March a day before the Oscars ‘No Role Modelz was at #22 with 459K streams and the day after the incident it rose to #15 with 480K streams. Currently, the song has reached its all-time peak of #14 on daily charts according to Chartdata , gaining nearly 500K streams on 29th March.

Check out some of the viral Tweet reactions by fans post-incident where they referenced Cole’s lyrics from No Role Modelz as one user wrote “J Cole’s “Jada and Will love” lyric gets more complex every day“.
