I’ve done what Napoleon couldn’t do for the music industry – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah known by the stage name Shatta Wale is calling for votes as he joins the artistes campaigning for the VGMA artiste of the decade award.

Although the award is being heavily contested for by top Ghanaian musicians who have been in the game for quite a long time, the Shatta Movement boss seems to think he is the best person fit for the cap.

An obviously huge fan of social media, Shatta Wale took to his Facebook page to recounts his journey since joining the Ghana music industry as a way of conveying the message to both his fans and organizers of the award that he indeed deserves it.

In his post, Shatta Wale formally identified as Bandana sends a message of remembrance to everyone especially the VGMA board on his consistent accomplishments and his profound relevance to the music industry and Ghana as a whole.

The controversial artiste did not hesitate to state the fact that he is the only artiste who was able to come back hard and strong with a new name and a fresh brand after his brief pause during which he changed his name from Bandana to Shatta Wale.

Despite the fact that it is very evident that the dancehall king is appealing for votes, Shatta added that his strategy is not to influence anyone’s votes mostly because he is very deserving of the award. He would, however, put on his safety belt and allow nature to run its course.

Shatta again sent a subtle yet strong warning to his fellow contenders that although he does not consider himself to be in a race with anyone, the organizers of the awards have created that position. And that his competitors should stay back if they know that they cannot compare their worth to his as a relevant and current artiste in the industry.

Shatta Wale’s post on Facebook reads;

“My name was Bandana from 2003-2004

Changed my name from Bandana – Shatta Wale in 2009

2010 – 2011 I released a street Bangers

2013 I came back strong with Dancehall King

And up until now 2019, I have my current song in the system “MY LEVEL”

Whoever came back hard like me like this should own up so we can all praise the Good Lord together

But if you know you haven’t been on the journey like this, Don’t come competing because I was never in competition with anybody but the industry made it seem so!!!

I won’t worry myself to fight for what rightfully belongs to me. I will rather share my story to the world to motivate the younger generation today…

I have done what Napoleon couldn’t do…
