Celebrated Hip-Life artiste Lord Kenya says he is ready to perform at the 20th anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) if invited.
The VGMA has been in existence for two decades now, having been Ghana’s most prestigious event that rewards artistes.
A series of programmes have been lined up as part of the 20th anniversary of the awards, including the much-anticipated Artiste of the Decade accolade.
Speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM, Lord Kenya said he is willing to perform at the event if only an invitation is extended to him.
Born Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo, the veteran rapper is now an evangelist and says he will use the opportunity on stage to win more souls for Christ. “I’m still a musician but where I find myself now, I’m doing what I have been commanded by God,” Lord Kenya said.
“People doubted me when I turned to do God’s work. What I can tell them is that my past wasn’t me… It was a mistaken identity. If I will do music again I need the Holy Spirit to keep me informed.
“If Charterhouse wants me to perform on stage to commemorate the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 20th Anniversary, let’s talk about it but it will be a surprise. At the end of the day, you will hear JESUS IS LORD,” he added.
Lord Kenya is one regarded as one of the very best Hip-Life artistes ever to emerge from Ghana. He has previously won the VGMA Song of the Year, Hip-Llife Song of the Year, Hiplife Album of the Year and Artiste of The Year awards.
