Charles Nii Armah Jnr, popularly known within the entertainment circles as Shatta Wale has shed some light on the incident leading to his infamous brawl at the last edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in a new interview.
Appearing as a guest on Entertainment Review hosted by the indefatigable Kwasi Aboagye on Peace FM, Shatta Wale said he had no bad intention when he walked up stage that day which provoked Stonebwoy to bring out his gun, a situation which plunged the hitherto beautiful award ceremony into a complete mess.
“There was no way I was going to cause any harm on stage. I should have just been given the opportunity to do whatever I wanted to do. I knew the platform I was on and I was not going to do anything bad,” he said.
The confusion at the VGMAs started when Shatta Wale and his militants rushed onto the stage when Stonebwoy was about to receive his award for the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year award.
Stonebwoy, who felt threatened quickly pulled out a gun and that was disaster struck as patrons started fleeing the auditorium, all of which happened on Live TV.
The security officials at the Dome started spraying the patrons of the award with pepper spray and the guests at the VIP stand were quickly rushed out.
The show was temporarily put on hold amidst the pandemonium in the Dome and some of the patrons started leaving the auditorium when the chaos started.
