I deserve rapper of the year hands down for my song, “preach” has better and deep lyrical content – Teephlow brags
This year’s VGMAs which is happening on Saturday, May 18, 2019 is going to be very competitive like previous years and there are some categories that, one could easily tell who would win, there are also others that, it’s very hard to predict who would win.
Nonetheless, despite the fact that it’s not easy to get predictions right, virtually all the nominees have been giving 1001 reasons why they deserve to win in their respective category. This scenario is no different in the camp of Lukeman Baidoo who’s popularly known as Teephlow.
The Fante rapper in an interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM posited that he deserves the crown for the coveted rapper of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for he has worked his hearts out throughout this year.
He told Sammy Flex on the ‘Showbiz Agenda’ show that even though the likes of Medikal, Obibini, Sarkodie, and M.anifest were nominated with their songs “How Much Remix, The Dream, Can’t Let You Go, Feels” respectively, none of these songs can march his song “Preach” which is in the same category with them because it has better and deeper lyrics.
The rapper further stated that even though he believes that he stands in the pole position to win the award, the part of audience votes which forms a part of the criteria used in the determination of the winners of the award is where his worry lies.
Teephlow admitted that in as much as he has a very good audience appeal, all the other nominees in the category with him have a great number and as such he has another believe that the award will go a separate way.
He further noted that because the rapper of the year category is a more technical one, the board should look into picking people who have a good understanding of rap music to determine the winner. A move the rapper stated would afford some of them to also win the award.
