I can’t do music without ‘wee’– Ras Kuuku
Some musicians such as dancehall act, Shatta Wale have condemned the notion that marijuana helps musicians write songs better.
However, there are others who believe that the use of marijuana, otherwise known as ‘ganja’ helps them to be more creative when it comes to recording music.
One of such proponents is reggae dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku. He believes in the creative aspect of marijuana.
According to him, he cannot do music without marijuana, popularly known as ‘wee’, in Ghana.
The musician in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM said marijuana motivates him to be in the realm to make music.
He told Merqury Quaye that:
“Without weed, I can’t do music, it’s one of the seven things I need before recording. All the good songs and romantic lyrics were fueled by marijuana. Aside from that I love drinking water, eating healthy and take more fruits,” he said.
Ras Kukuu is currently promoting his new album dubbed ‘Kuntunkununku.’
‘Kuntunkununku’ is an 18-track masterpiece that features Samini, Stonebwoy, MzVee, and other major artistes.
The one hour, two minutes collection is well brewed with lyrics and melody in successive one drop rhythms.
