Hitmaka Goes At Diddy For ‘R&B Is Dead’ Comments, Tells Him To ‘Stop Trolling’

Hitmaka has blasted Diddy for saying that R&B is dead, and said the Bad Boy Records founder has “lost his whole damn mind.”

The Grammy-nominated producer’s comments come after Diddy tweeted “Who killed R&B?” which later sparked a heated debate between the Bad Boy mogul and Timbaland about the state of R&B.

“R&B is muthafuckin’ dead as of right now,” Diddy said to Tim. “The R&B I made my babies to? R&B gotta be judged to a certain thing — it’s the feeling though, doggy. No, no, no. It’s a feeling. You gotta be able to sing for R&B and then you gotta tell the truth. R&B is not a hustle. This shit is about feeling your vulnerability.”

Many have taken issue with this stance, including Hitmaka who took to Twitter to air out his grievances with Diddy.

“Diddy done lost his whole damn mind talking bout R&B dead,” Hitmaka wrote. “It’s so much good R&B out if u can’t notice u gotta be outta touch. Stop trolling.”

A previous, now-deleted tweet of Hitmaka’s had additionally criticized Diddy’s age, and called him “out of touch.”

Diddy, who recently unveiled his new R&B label called Love Records, further elaborated on this question on his Instagram Story on Wednesday (August 17).

“Who killed R&B? What’s really going on? Puff asked in the video. “There’s two types of R&B. There’s rap R&B, there’s traditional R&B. What’s going on? Love Records is here. Never fear.”

Diddy later recruited Tank, Timbaland, Kehlani and Mary J. Blige to debate the topic, with the latter praising the diverse range of female R&B that’s available.

Hitmaka has previously worked with many R&B stars including Jeremih and Eric Bellinger, and most recently linked with Tink for her new project Pillow Talk.

The pair recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss the new tunes, and Charlamagne opened the dialogue by asking if Tink had felt Timbaland “oversold” her in the early days of her career by comparing her to the late Aaliyah.

“It was a lot,” Tink said. “The comparisons, I caught a lot of backlash, you know? I dropped the record ‘Million’, and it was a really dope song, but I felt like with him kinda comparing me to her, you know, telling people I’m the next Aaliyah, you can’t play with legends like that. And I had a lot of work to do at the time so it wasn’t really necessary.”

She continued: “And I remember we dropped a record with JAY-Z and Rick Ross … but yeah it was just a lot of things on the business end that weren’t tight and it kinda just affected everything it was like a snowball effect.”

Hitmaka merely showered Tink in praise, saying now he, “just wants everybody to appreciate her in the game.”
