Gunna has seemingly addressed being called a “snitch” in a snippet of a new song.
The Georgia rapper was released from jail in December after pleading guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
He was subsequently given a five-year suspended sentence with one year already served due to the time he spent behind bars following his initial arrest in May 2022.
As a result of his plea, many have accused Gunna of snitching on Young Thug and their fellow YSL cohorts. But in a video posted to social media this week, he appeared to hit back at those critics.
“He forgave me for my sins now they mad I got out,” he raps on an unreleased track.
Gunna hasn’t released any new solo material since his DS4Ever album dropped in January 2022, although he did return with a guest verse on Ufo361’s “Brodies” earlier this year.
This isn’t the first time Gunna has addressed the snitching allegations. In a statement following his release from jail last year, he categorically denied helping authorities strengthen their case against Young Thug and co.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he said in a statement.
Young Thug’s sister, Dolly White, also defended Gunna from being labeled a snitch.
“Can y’all please stop saying then people write it and this and that? It’s not making anybody better or nothing good,” she said. “Nothing that’s going on is helping my brother. So can y’all please stop that. If y’all love Gunna, then y’all give him support. Why the fuck y’all over there y’all tripping. It be the internet for me.”
In February, Gunna’s legal team reaffirmed his innocence, claiming he has “never” cooperated with law enforcement in the YSL RICO case.
“Gunna has never been interviewed by or cooperated with law enforcement or prosecutors in the RICO case,” the statement read. “Nor have his attorneys proffered information on his behalf. What was said at his Alford plea hearing was solely to resolve his own case. It cannot be used by the prosecution against Young Thug or any other defendant.”
