GES calls on stakeholders to ensure safety of BECE candidates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured all candidates and stakeholders within the Chereponi area that all the necessary steps had been taken to ensure maximum security and safety during the examinations.

It also called on the security agencies to help deal decisively with all those who would attempt to undermine the integrity of the exercise and to jeopardize the future of the candidates.

These were contained in a media release issued by Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit and copied the Ghana News Agency.

“Management therefore calls for the support and cooperation of all those involved to ensure that the future of these innocent children was not frustrated by any form of insecurity during the period,” it added.

All candidates and stakeholders were assured that Management had worked closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations throughout the country.

“We wish to remind all candidates, invigilators and supervisors to appreciate the fact that the basis of success in life is honesty and hard work and therefore urges all candidates and stakeholders to eschew all forms of examination malpractices during the period and to indicate that all cases of reported examination malpractices will swiftly be investigated and dealt with decisively,” it said.

Candidates were requested to note the rules governing the conduct of the examinations and abide by them in order to ensure incident free examinations, the release noted.

It cautioned unauthorized persons to stay away from Examinations Centres, during the exercise which would run from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14.
