George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt’s friendship extends beyond the camera.
In an interview with GQ for the magazine’s September issue published on Tuesday, Aug. 13, Pitt, 60, and Clooney, 63, spoke about how they kept in touch while the latter was filming Ticket to Paradise with Roberts, 56.
When asked if they text one another, Clooney said: “I was doing Ticket to Paradise with Jules [a.k.a. Julia Roberts] and we were in a helicopter and we would text Brad.”
However, Pitt’s side of the story about his Ocean’s costars was a bit different. “I would get photos of them with the dumbest looks on their faces at each location you moved to,” he said. “I didn’t even want ’em.”
Clooney, Pitt and Roberts collaborated for the star-studded Ocean’s movies from 2001-2007. Pitt and Clooney, meanwhile, previously costarred in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) and Burn After Reading (2008).
Now, Pitt and Clooney are teaming up again for Wolfs, a thriller about two independent fixers who get paired up together for the same job.
Elsewhere in the interview, Clooney told GQ that the pair also makes sure to “check in on each other” when “things get complicated with life.”
“We’ve been friends for a long time,” he said.
“And it’s fun because we also check in on each other every once in a while, which is an important part of this,” the star continued. “You always have to make sure everybody’s okay.”
PEOPLE exclusively reported in February that Pitt and Clooney were thrilled to team up again for Wolfs. “Brad and George are forever friends,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.
“They like and respect each other no matter how many years in between gigs together. They go way back and were happy to work together on this film,” the source added.
Wolfs hits theaters on Sept. 20.
