Freddie Gibbs has revealed the release date and cover art of his new album $oul $old $eparately.
The Gary, Indiana rapper announced on social media on Friday (September 2) that his long-awaited fifth solo LP is set to arrive on September 30 via Warner Records, marking his major label debut.
The album’s cover brings Gangsta Gibbs’ “Big Rabbit” mascot to life, depicting the furry, pink-colored creature witnessing a spaceship crash landing in the desert.

Further fueling excitement, Freddie Gibbs has also shared the album’s lead single, “Too Much,” featuring Moneybagg Yo. The accompanying video, directed by JMP, finds Big Rabbit and Big Speaker hitting a winning streak at a casino — but its closing scene suggests Gibbs’ luck may soon run out.
“Rocks in a n-gga wrist, too much / Forgiatos on a Bent’, too much / ’42, a n-gga sip, too much / I done hit another n-gga bitch too much / All this money that I got, I could never get too much / All these hoes that I got, I could never get boo’d up,” Gibbs raps on the hook.
$oul $old $eparately serves as the follow-up to 2020’s Alfredo, a full-length collaboration between Freddie Gibbs and veteran producer The Alchemist. The project was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, but lost out to Nas and Hit-Boy’s King’s Disease.
Its title is a nod to Gibbs’ lyric on “Education,” the penultimate track on his 2019 collaboration with Madlib, Bandana. “I changed it up, I pray the streets don’t take what’s left of me / Drugs for the free, soul sold separately,” he rapped.
The ESGN boss kickstarted the album rollout earlier this week by erecting $$$ billboards in various cities across the U.S. The casino-themed promos listed a phone number that when called, plays an automated message from a female concierge who instructs callers their “soul is sold separately.”
While a tracklist has yet to be released, Gibbs previously revealed the heavyweight cast of producers who have contributed to the album, including Pharrell, The Alchemist, Madlib, Boi-1da, Jake One, Tay Keith, DJ Paul, Kaytranada and more.
It’s unclear whether the previously released tracks, “Gang Signs” featuring ScHoolboy Q, “Black Illuminati” with Jadakiss and the Nas-sampling “Big Boss Rabbit,” will make the final cut.
In any case, Gangsta Gibbs has set the bar high for $oul $old $eparately. “I got the best album of the year,” he declared on Twitter last November.
