Former Egypt international Wael Gomaa is eagerly awaiting AFCON 2019 as he reminisces the Pharoah’s triumph in 2010 in the final against Ghana.
Gomaa was a rock in the heart of defence as Egypt beat a less experienced Ghana side 1-0 to win their seventh AFCON title.
In one of the fiercest duels of the day was his battle with Ghana’s danger man Asamoah Gyan.
The 43-year old posted a picture of himself and Asamoah Gyan indicating it was one of the battles he won’t forget at the Nations Cup.
” From the memories of AFCON in the colours of the Pharaohs. A picture of the games archive and a bilateral clash on the ball with the Ghanaian striker “Gyan Asamoah” in the final of the championship in 2010,” he posted on Twitter.
Gomaa won’t be part of the current Egypt team after representing the Pharaohs in 117 games and winning three Africa Cup of Nations title.
Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan will be hoping to help Ghana win a first AFCON title in 37 years.
