Fivio Foreign is not about to side with 21 Savage and the comments he made recently about Nas being no longer relevant in Hip Hop.
The Brooklyn native was approached by TMZ at an airport and was asked his opinion on the whole ordeal that has the Hip Hop community in shambles.
“That n-gga Nas did too much to be disrespected like that,” Fivio said. “That’s big bro where I’m from you know what I’m saying. I was just on his album. He just got a Grammy for the album I just was on.”
He continued speaking on Nas never being irrelevant: “Nah, that’s like saying it’s like you a legend you can do what you want, you come back when you want, you leave when you want. That’s what it is. He can do what he want.”
Fivio was then asked about Kodak Black’s response to 21’s controversial claim, and he said he actually likes the Floriday rapper. He also said the best way for artists to challenge criticisms like that is to keep to themselves and not worry about the next person.
21 Savage had Hip Hop fans in a frenzy when said Nas was irrelevant during a conversation on Clubhouse. 21 asked what the room’s definition of relevant was, after which he followed it up with: “I don’t feel like he’s relevant. I don’t feel like Nas is relevant.”
21 Savage’s comments seemingly struck a chord with those in the chatroom as everyone began arguing over one another. Once things calmed down, the Slaughter Gang boss took the stage and explained that the Queensbridge icon isn’t relevant today, but he has a “loyal” fan base and still makes good music.
The Atlanta native tried to clarify his statement on Twitter and explain his words were being twisted in a way he didn’t intend.
“I would never disrespect nas or any legend who paved the way for me y’all be tryna take stuff and run with it,” 21 wrote while applauding the Queensbridge icon.
Not everyone was sold on his explanation, such as Kodak Black, who had words for 21 Savage. The Florida rapper took to Instagram Live earlier this week to put 21 on blast for questioning the New York legend’s current position in the rap game, while quoting lyrics from his 2002 song “I Can.”
“Talking about, ‘Oh, Nas irrelevant.’ How the fuck Nas irrelevant, hoe?” Kodak Black asked. “How the fuck Nas ain’t relevant, homie? N-gga smoking dick! Did a fucking Drake [album]. We salute Drake, we love Drake, okay, whatever.
“Nas that n-gga, homie. I know I can (I know I can) / Be what I wanna be (Be what I wanna be) / If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it) / I’ll be where I wanna be. You crazy, boy! The fuck? Nas that boy. Homie, you tripping. Nas that n-gga, boy, you tripping, boy. The fuck?”
He continued to defend Nas by saying: “A n-gga fucked up about Nas. I love that boy, homie. I ain’t saying n-ggas ain’t lit or whatever and they on they real. Nas wasn’t bothering you, boy. I wasn’t bothering you, n-gga.”
