Family of slain Head Pastor of the Community 4 branch of the Assemblies of God Church in Tema has debunked claims by the suspected killer that the deceased was an idol worshipper.
Francis Nagbemado allegedly stabbed Rev Dr. David Nabegmado to death last Sunday at the church premises where he was preparing to deliver a sermon.
The 31-year-old suspect, Francis Nagbemado, alleged that the deceased engaged in human sacrifices and idol worshipping.
Francis claimed he vacated the house of the deceased recently over misunderstanding, adding that the head pastor sacrificed some members of the family and church in order to become spiritually powerful.
However, the Nagbemado Family has mounted a spirited defence of the deceased in a press statement, stating that the slain preacher was a genuine man of God.
In a statement signed by Daniel Makandin, spokesperson of the Nagbemado Family, stated that “the Nagbemado family distances itself from alleged statements made by Francis Nagbemado, the assailant who took the life of his own uncle.
“The family of the Negbemado wants to state categorically that Rev. Dr. David Mankrom Negbemado was a genuine man of God, who was humble and down-to-earth. He was passionate about God and has impacted many lives both Ghana and abroad.”
They stated that the family is seriously saddened by the events and requested the public to disregard all statements made by the suspect.
They, therefore, appealed to the general public to respect the privacy of the family and church in these trying times.
