Gospel artiste, Empress Gifty Adorye and some of her musician friends thrilled patrons in Tema on Easter Monday with a concert dubbed: “The Resurrection Effect.”
The show, held at the forecourt of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in Community One saw a number of artistes coming together on one stage to commemorate the resurrection of Christ.
From intense worship and praise sessions to danceable tunes, the Gospel musicians assembled for the programme including Ohemaa Mercy, Brother Sammy, Charles Adom Folie, Pastor Boateng and Minister Perry Lokko entertained the crowd that gathered at the open air event.
Tema-based Afropop musician and sound engineer, Ephraim, made a surprise appearance on stage and sang a few lines with Empress Gifty while beat maker and producer, Kaywa, who was recently ordained a pastor, also showed up to give an exhortation and admonished the crowd to give their lives to God.
Empress Gifty Adorye entered the arena at 9pm on a horse. She was adorned in a scarlet cassock and a cape. The stage entry was accompanied by a medley of worship songs.
When she finally mounted the stage, she and her band treated patrons to a collection of songs from her repertoire which lasted for nearly two hours.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz after her performance, Empress Gifty Adorye said the concert was aimed at uniting the Christian community in celebrating the resurrection of Christ.
She said Jesus’ resurrection signified new life for Christians stressing that Easter was not all about revelling or having fun but was a time to reflect on the essence of Christ’s death on the cross and his resurrection.
Empress Gifty said following the success of the programme, it will be rotated in other cities to make it possible for others to feel the experience.
She also disclosed that she will be releasing a new single, titled Jesus Over Do in the coming days.
