The visual comes ahead of the 30th anniversary of Beastie Boys’ sophomore album, Paul’s Boutique. Coupled with the release of the Beastie Boys Book, the platinum-selling artist decided to go full into “Beastie Boy” mode and pay homage to the pioneering NYC trio by reimagining the 1989 video for “Shake Your Rump.”
“I grew up a huge Beastie Boys fan and haven’t really had the chance to honor them for everything they’ve done” Classified tells HipHopDX. “I decided to dedicate a full song to them on the record, which gave me the perfect opportunity to recycle one of their old and lesser known videos. Here’s a personal tribute song and video from a Canadian emcee, eh.”
Tomorrow Could Be The Day Things Change marked Classified’s first full-length release in two years and covered topics steeped in cultural relevance while delivering the innovative and genuine narrative fans expect from the revered MC.
