Drake Asks For CN Tower To Go Gold Following Grammy Win; Toronto Mayor Delivers

Spread the love

Drake turns the CN Tower gold in honor of his Grammy win last night.

What Drake asks for he gets in the city of Toronto. After accepting the award for best rap song at the Grammy’s Sunday night for “God’s Plan,” the 6 God grabbed the mic from Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier while backstage and asked the mayor of Toronto to light up the famous CN Tower gold in his honor.

“I wanna say that the mayor of Toronto needs to turn the CN Tower chrome and gold tomorrow,” Drake said real quick before hitting the reporter with some Canadian slang. “Are you stupid, are you dumb?”

Well of course Mayor John Tory heard Drake’s request, and made it happen. The CN Tower Twitter account announced Monday that the iconic landmark would be lit up gold to honor all the Canadians who took home Grammy’s. “Tonight we’re going gold to celebrate the outstanding artists whose work makes Canada shine so brightly on the world stage,” the account tweeted. “Congratulations to the nominees and winners at the 2019 Grammys!”

If you missed it, Drake had his speech cut short last night by the Grammys when he sent a little jab at their committee, telling other artists they don’t need the hardware to validate their worth. “If there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows – You don’t need this right here, I promise you that. You already won,” he added.

Check out the gold CN Tower and tweet (below).
