Doing gospel music in Ghana doesn’t pay – Patience Nyarko

Renowned Ghanaian Gospel artiste, Patience Nyarko has lamented that doing gospel music in Ghana does not really pay much as it earns very little income.

Speaking in an interview with an Accra based Onua 95.1 fm’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre, with Christian Agyei Frimpong ,Monitored by Attractivemustapha.com, she said one of the ways they make some cash is when people voluntarily bless them.

Patience Nyarko explained that one major reason that has contributed to the low remuneration of Gospel artistes in the country is the low patronage of CD sales which used to be their main source of income in recent times due to advanced technology.

She continued that even though pastors usually invite them for song ministration in their churches, they mostly find it difficult to ask pastors to pay them for their services.

“When a pastor calls you for a show and you charge him or her the pastor will fight you”.

She stated that it is high time the pastors understand that artistes invest a lot in themselves and their music so they have to pay them when they invite them to perform at their churches.
