DJ Khaled has revealed he had to pay a visit to the doctor following a serious surfing accident that left him in a “high-level” amount of pain.
The We The Best hitmaker took to Instagram on Monday (June 12) to update fans on his condition following his viral surfing blunder over the weekend. While it’s unclear what exactly happened, he said the pain caused by his fall was so intense that he hadn’t been able to sleep for 48 hours.
“Guys, I’m getting an X-ray. I’m in pain, I’ve been in pain,” Khaled said in a video of him visiting the doc. “I got golf, golf and studio seven days a week, but I went surfing the other day and that fall, I was hoping it was just a bruised muscle or just a bruise. I just wanna make sure the bone ain’t broken, ’cause I been up 48 hours I haven’t slept.”
“This morning I tried to explain to them that pain is high level,” Khaled added, before telling his doctor that he needs this pain resolved immediately because he’s in the process of “creating some incredible music.”

Khaled has become incredibly serious about golf in recent months. Earlier this month, the “Wild Thoughts” hitmaker announced the launch of his inaugural We the Best Foundation Golf Classic, with the Jordan-sponsored charity event set to go down at the Miami Beach Golf Club on July 20. Proceeds from the event will benefit the We the Best Foundation’s endeavors in education, the arts and more.
“Just to be out on the golf course with close friends and family of mine is a blessing,” Khaled said in a statement. “Giving back makes it even better. I can’t wait to see you all at the first-ever We the Best Foundation Golf Classic…We’re starting something very special here while introducing the sport of golf to a wider community.”
The festivities begin with a VIP reception with sponsors and special guests on July 19, followed by the tournament the next morning and an awards reception at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
Last month, Khaled also graced the cover of Golf Digest, calling the honor a “dream come true.”
“When I’m done playing golf, and I walk into the studio, I have a clear mind,” he told the publication. “On this new album, a lot of my great ideas came from me sitting on the golf course or me walking the fairway and just thinking.
“A lot of my great ideas come out when I jump in the car on the way home after a beautiful day of golf, and I’m driving home, and I’m saying ‘Man, I got a dope idea. I’m gonna go lay it down in the studio.’”
He added that he built a mini golf course for his kids in the backyard, and said Asahd and Aalam have taken to the sport just as much as their dad.
“My kids, they fell in love, too,” he told the outlet. “We built a golf course in our backyard — just got it done today, actually — so they’re both golfing every day. On the weekends they come out and play with me. They also take lessons, but they are natural with it.”
