Designer unveils incredible custom-made Lionel Messi shoes detailing his career

Lionel Messi‘s footballing career isn’t over just yet, but it’s already the stuff of legends – and has been for quite some time. A triumph with Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar was the final cabinet piece left in order for him to fully be able to say he accomplished it al

Messi merchandise has always been around, ever since he began breaking through as an early-20s-year-old, but we’ve seen some incredible memorabilia being showcased over the past few years. Now, we might have the best of them all.

Amazing custom Lionel Messi shoes

Messi’s career has been filled to the brim with accolades, records and a legacy in each city he’s stepped foot in. Compacting all of that into a pair of shoes would seem impossible, but that’s exactly what Stepwise was able to accomplish.

The Buenos Aires-born, Oakland-based custom shoe designer is dubbing the colorway of that Nike SB Dunk Low “What the Messi“. Every nook and cranny of the shoe, every color and detail has a story to tell.

Stepwise shared the influences for the shoe, drawing inspiration from several jerseys Messi has worn over his illustrious career. From FC Barcelona to PSG to Inter Miami, and even the Newell’s Old Boys retro jersey he wore during his Diego Maradona tribute.

He even used the 2014 World Cup away kit with which Messi failed to defeat Germany in his first World Cup final. Of course, the 2022 World Cup home kit couldn’t be missing. In fact, the “FIFA World Champions 2022” patch is featured on the shoe’s right insole, alongside Messi’s current Inter Miami colors and jersey number on the left insole.

The shoes will reportedly go up for pre-order soon, so follow StepKicks on Twitter or Instagram to stay updated on when they drop.
