Dancer, Kaffy condemns Naira Marley’s ‘disgusting’ new dance, Soapy

Nigerian popular dancer Kafayat Shafau, otherwise known as Kaffy, has lent her voice to the much talked about “Soapy” dance, introduced by Naira Marley.

The dance, which went viral just a few days after its unveiling, accompanies the release of Marley’s new tune Soapy that apparently endorses masturbation.

However, not all reactions to the project have been as glowing, with many describing it as “foolish and rubbish”.

Kaffy rubbished the new dance saying it was a “disgusting and immoral” dance that “should never be encouraged” for it to trend.

The 39-year-old expressed her disappointment in a note on social media lashing out at Naira Marley and other persons promoting the song and dance all together.

“This is a No,” she said. “As dancers, we should also speak for what if right, we shouldn’t encourage this for the sake of trend. Esp when it’s not even censored away from kids, as an adult self it’s offensive. #rubbish.”

Naira Marley is known for bringing about the “Zanku” dance, which has been widely accepted by many, but his move to popularise “Soapy” has been met with mixed reactions.

Nigerian journalist Joey Akan slammed fans of rapper Naira Marley (Marlians) for doing the crazy ‘soapy dance’, calling them donkeys with no self-respect.

Dancer, Don Flexx also had something to share with extra support from Kaffy:

Despite the criticism, a sect of Naira Marley’s fans is not fazed as they have vowed to make the dance go extremely viral across the country and beyond.
