Dagbon Chiefs commend government for alleviating poverty in the Northern Region

Chiefs of Dagbon have expressed their profound gratitude to the NPP government for initiating social and policies to alleviate poverty in the Northern Region.

According to them, though there are still challenges in some of the initiatives, however, the government has fulfiled most of its social contract with Ghanaians.

The Dagbon Chiefs noted that the people of Dagbon have benefited a lot from the pro-poor policies of the government including the planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, free SHS and among others.

The Chiefs of Dagbon made this assertion when the Minister of Business Development, Hon Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Awal paid a courtesy call on them in their various palaces.

The Minister who was on a working three-day visit in the Northern Region was to engage the chiefs of Dagbon on government initiatives and policies especially the Business Development Ministry.

Again, the Business Development Minister as a son of Dagbon was to formally congratulate the various revered chiefs on their traditional elevation.

Dr. Mohammed Awal hinted that the NPP government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bamwia values the importance and enormous contributions play by traditional authorities and Chiefs in the development process of the nation thus the need to always engage chiefs on government development programmes.

The Business Minister said, the Ministry was created to promote local businesses through an innovative business environment, adding that, many business people and entrepreneurs in Dagbon have already benefited from the Ministry.

He hinted that the Ministry will this year trained about 2000 head porters in various livelihoods programmes, a livelihood skills that will make them more economic dependence.

He said the programme is aimed at curtailing the Kayaye menace in the country, adding that, young girls will be given livelihood skills to prevent them from moving to the urban areas for menial jobs.

At the Gbewaa Palace, the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II thanked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing a proud son of Dagbon as the first Minister of the Business Development Ministry.

His Royal Highness, the King of Dagbon prayed and urged that, the Minister of Business Development succeed in his endeavour.

Dr. Alhaji Mohammed visited His Royal Highness imminent, the overload of Dagbon, Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II, the Yoo Naa Abdulai Yakubu V, the Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamadu, the Diare Naa Abdulai Abubakari II, Kunbumgu Naa Abu Iddrisu and Tolon Naa Rtd Major Sulemana.

The Minister of as part his visited also on met with party faithful including, the NPP Regional Council of Elders, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives and Communication Team of the party.

The Business Development Minister was accompanied by one of the Programme Directors of the Ministry, Mr. Yussif Yakubu and some NPP bigwigs including the NPP Northern Regional Secretary Alhaji Yakubu Sibdow, Second Vice Chairperson, Mrs Felicia Tetteh and leading member of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Jacky.
