If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Taylor Swift fans over the years, it’s that they are borderline detectives. They’ll take the smallest of clues and read into them with Da Vinci Code-level complexity. Swift plays into that fandom as well.
But could newly acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins have taken a similar approach just a few days ago? Hey, it’s possible.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs traded for the former Titans receiver, giving Patrick Mahomes some much-needed wide receiver help amid injuries to Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown and now JuJu Smith-Schuster. Yet, if you read into Hopkins’ Instagram post from the other day, the trade might have been in the works already.

With the caption “rumor has it,” Hopkins shared several photos and videos on his IG page. One of which being him jamming to Taylor Swift’s “22” in the car with his family. Either Hopkins is a certified Swiftie or he might have been putting out an Easter egg of his own given Swift’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Either way, Chiefs fans (and Swifties) couldn’t believe they missed that clue.
