Charterhouse responds to Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy fans asking for their monies after VGMA ban
Fans of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy should forget about any refund of monies they used to vote for the artistes in the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 2019) after the scheme banned them and withdrew their most recent awards.
According to George Quaye, the Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse Ghana, the organisers of the show, there will be no refund for anybody because the vote was not the only determining factor for their wins.
The VGMA board announced an indefinite ban for the two artistes at a press conference on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
Apart from the ban, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were stripped off the awards they won at the 2019 awards held on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
“After carefully deliberating on the recent feud between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the 2019 VGMA event, the two artistes have been banned from the award scheme.
“The two artistes will also be stripped off their various awards won at the just ended VGMA award event held on Saturday, May 18, 2019,” the VGMA board stated.
Since the announcement of the sanctions, many Ghanaians have expressed mixed reactions on social media with many asking for a refund of the monies they used to vote.
But speaking in an interview with Peace FM’s Kwasi Aboagye, George Quaye stated that the winners were not determined by the votes and so it was out of place for voters to request for their monies.
“Let’s not forget the winners were not solely determined by the votes by the fans. What about the board and academy who left their various assignments to vote on who wins.”
Moreover, the Charterhouse PRO added, it will not be fair to the fans of other artistes in the respective categories to refund to the fans of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
