Charterhouse can make anything happen – Kobby Wutah
Wutah Kobby, of the music group ‘Wutah’, has said that Charterhouse is capable of anything.
He made this assertion when host of e.TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Note Celebrity Show’, Foster Romanus, asked him about the recently released Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) nominees list.
Speaking on e.TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’, he said ‘’ You don’t know Charterhouse? They can make anything happen oo.’’
Known in real life as Daniel Morris, Kobby recounted how ‘Bronya’ made waves last year but did not make it to the ‘Song of the Year’ category.
‘’If ‘Bronya’ couldn’t win what else cannot happen. When you say it, they will ask if you voted, ’’ he insinuated.
‘Bronya’ was however, nominated for the 2018 VGMA highlife song of the year but lost out to KiDi’s ‘Odo’.
He also declined to place premium on VGMA over 3Music Awards saying ‘’it is like comparing Tico and an Articulator because they are all vehicles. If 3Music Awards put their house in order it may become a better awards scheme,’’ he said.
The interview touched on the recent banter between music group ‘Praye’ and the Head of Communications at Charterhouse, George Quaye, about what qualifies as music.
‘’ I think my brothers deserve to be nominated. They released three songs. Praye deserves nomination for this year’s VGMA because last year they were very vibrant. Currently, everyone knows Praye’s song. whether they were good songs or bad, the songs were all over the country,” he stated
“Are you telling me R2Bees, Dope Nation, La Meme Gang and Bethel Revival Choir did better than Praye?,” he quizzed. He was also surprised by the inclusion of Shatta Wale’s ‘My level’ as a high-life song.
“If you listen to my level, there is some three timing in there, but if that is the yardstick for judging high-life then we will hear different types of high-life tunes going forward,’’ he said.
