CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD RECALLS DIDDY ‘SCREAMING’ AT HIM FOR ‘BEING AN ASSHOLE’

Charlamagne Tha God has taken a trip down memory lane and revisited the time Diddy went off on him for his prickly perspective on his music.

In an interview with VladTV, the Breakfast Club co-host detailed Puff’s tirade against him for his on-air comments during the Bad Boy boss’ promo run for his 2010 album Last Train to Paris.

“I’ll never forget Diddy yelling and screaming at me,” Charlamagne began. “This is before I recognized, truly, the power that the platform was commanding. This is when he dropped the Last Train to Paris album and I gave him ‘Donkey of the Day’ for that album.

“I’m like, ‘Yo, this shit is shake weight music.’ Once again, being an asshole because people loved that album! But I’m just fucking with him.”

He continued: “He came to the station hot. Like, ‘Go out the back door, Charlamagne’ type shit. And I remember when I finally had a conversation with Diddy about it … Shawn Prez put us on the phone. And Diddy was like, ‘Bro, you can’t do that on my first week.’

“He said, ‘I’m a big boy, I can take criticism of the music, but not on my first week when I’m tryna get these first week numbers up. You come out and you shit on my project like this, people might not go check for the project.’ And that was one of the first times I was like, ‘Oh shit, he’s right, you know?’”

In other Charlamagne Tha God news, the radio personality recently expounded upon what really happened with Angie Yee’s departure from The Breakfast Club.

In a separate portion of his VladTV interview earlier this month, Charlamagne explained that Yee simply had gotten an opportunity to do her own thing and she took it.

“I think people want it to be something salacious, but it’s not,” he said. “She left The Breakfast Club because she got the opportunity to do her own nationally syndicated show.

“Way Up With Angela Yee is a nationally syndicated show. It comes on 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. right after The Breakfast Club, and I think that would be hard for anybody to pass up.”

Charlamagne went on to say that Yee was the only one out of the Breakfast Club trio that never got the opportunity to host her own morning show and that the chance for her to do so was long overdue.

“It’s kinda hard to pass up the opportunity to be the only syndicated Black woman at iHeart,” he added. “I think that’s a great opportunity why not take it? And when you been doing the same thing for 13 years everybody don’t have the same way of doing things.”
