CEO Of 3Music, Sadiq Abdulai Abu Collapses Following Massive Criticisms Of The Awards?
The recently held 3Music Awards, which saw the SM boss literally sweeping all the awards home, continue to receive flak from a section of Ghanaians whose favourite artistes won just few awards or did not win anything at all.
Stonebwoy and his manager, Blakk Cedi were the most vocal, branding the whole scheme, which is in its second a year, a JOKE.
Meanwhile, when Stonebwoy won several awards at the maiden edition somewhere last year, no one branded it a joke, something Mike Okraku Mantey pointed out to Blakk Cedi whiles expressing disappointment in him (Cedi) for those utterances when the awards did not go his way this year.
Well, following the massive criticisms, one friend of the organizer and CEO of 3Music, Adizah Kuburah Braimah has penned an emotionally laden letter on his Facebook timeline to stress on how ungrateful Ghanaians can be when a young man such as Sadiq is doing everything in his power to contribute his quota to the development of music in the country.
She wrote;
A young man under 35 who drives a modest car and lives a meek life decided to save up all his hard-earned income from being the country manager of Boomplay Music
With no record of fraud, money laundering, pimping women or any criminal activity to earn extra income he set out to achieve an “insane” dream.
When seasoned Industry players refused to be part of his Board and made outrageous demands he maintained a 15-member committee of young, refreshing and emerging group of media professionals and taste-makers.
He recruited myself and other Event experts to form a formidable operations Team. We believed in him, he believed in us and together we created another Event Property for the music Industry.
3 Music Awards is an event property funded (not founded) by an individual who had no financial support from any corporate institution yet decided to create an event to match up to the standard of A-list events managed by media moguls such as Bola Ray (Empire Entertainment/EIB Network) and Iyiola Ayoade (Charterhouse)
Sometimes we advised him to keep it simple just like his peers (under 35) who could only manage campus activations or events sponsored by major brands but he won’t budge- he would call friends and family to borrow him more money to pay Artists (especially) who have refused to perform unless they’re paid
Eventually the big day came and out of stress, pressure and frustration he BLACKED-OUT (collapsed) and couldn’t even witness his own event. He called some of us from his hospital bed to plead that we make his dream come true and manage the event well in his absence.
This was the most frustrating event I’ve ever been a part of as we had MAJOR challenges backstage but I’m very excited it never affected the beauty of the event.
When all I wake up to read is “Shatta Wale performed for Awards” I tell myself “Thank you God for rather keeping our HOUSE safe”.
But most importantly, this Industry should take Sadiq Abdulai Abu very serious because he’s an asset.
Let the accusations continue but remember – THE DAY WE FIND THAT MAJOR INVESTOR/SPONSOR, THERE’D BE ONLY ONE MUSIC AWARDS EVENT (Mark am)
