For the past few months, people haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas. Insiders claim their relationship has been on the rocks, while their Instagram feed tells otherwise. Now, insiders have told InTouch Weekly that when their new kids moved out of their home, making the couple empty-nesters, everything reportedly changed.
Since their children are adults living their own lives, Zeta-Jones and Douglas have reportedly greatly changed their romantic dynamic.
“Their children have always been their number one priority, but now that the kids are off on their own, they had to come up with a plan to keep from getting on each other’s nerves,” the insider claimed. “Catherine suggested they go their own ways more often, pursuing their individual hobbies and projects.”
The insider claimed that Douglas is trying to focus on mentoring young actors and producing, while Zeta-Jones “is keeping busy with her hobbies — sewing and gardening, and she’s playing a lot of golf with friends.”
Along with that, the insider claimed that the two made another rule while it’s just the two of them: “They also agreed to stay away from heavy topics that might lead to arguments.”
Every couple has their rules, and we just hope the two are happy together and as individuals as they navigate this new part of life.
The pair met back at the Deauville American Film Festival in France in August 1998, after being introduced to one another by Danny DeVito. Zeta-Jones and Douglas married two years later in Nov 2000, and later welcomed two children named Dylan, born in Aug 2000, and Carys, born in April 2003.
