Cardi B has taken a stroll down memory lane with a series of pictures from her high school days, labeling herself a “ghetto teenager.”
On Thursday (September 1), the Bronx-bred superstar gave her 23.6 million Twitter followers a glimpse at what she looked like in high school. The photos show a young Cardi with several piercings on her body, smoking a cigarette and posing with a bottle of vodka.
While reflecting on her high school days, Cardi said she liked the “emo kids” because they used to hook her up with free smokes.
“Ghetto teenager……fun fact -The emo kids in school were actually really cool and will give me free cigarettes,” she tweeted.

One fan was left in hysterics at Cardi’s apparent “emo” phase, but the Invasion of Privacy rapper responded by saying body and lip piercings were simply in fashion in her native Bronx at the time.
“I wasn’t EMO,” she clarified. “I was pierced cause Piercings was a big thing in the Bronx specially since this was the side lip piercing era. However they were a lot of emo kids in my school I will have history convos wit them while they give me free cigarettes.”

Cardi B’s style has changed drastically since she was a teen in the mid-2000s. Now that she’s a world-famous rapper, her taste has evolved and fans can catch her wearing luxury clothing such as Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton.
There’s one thing Cardi has managed to keep from her teenage years, though, and that’s the desire to get a face tattoo. Last year, the 29-year-old revealed she was extremely close to getting some ink done on her face when she was just 16.
“Everyday I’m thankful at the fact that ain’t get this face tatt I wanted when I was 16,” she wrote on Twitter at the time.
Cardi revisited the topic in January, tweeting: “Random but…. I’m 1% close too tatting my sons name on my face. I really really wanna do it!”
The Grammy-winner finally went through with her face tattoo plans last month, with footage showing her getting a red tattoo permanently inked on the left side of her jaw.
Another image surfaced showing Cardi sitting next to tattoo artist De Los Santos after the session, although the rapper has yet to unveil final product.
