Cardi B Scores Another Defamation Lawsuit Victory – This Time Over MAGA

Cardi B’s recent visits to the courtroom have left her with nothing but judgments ruled in her favor. After scoring a multi-million dollar victory against blogger Tasha K for defamation earlier this year, the Bronx rapper is making another victory lap over detractors, this time over MAGA supporters.

On Friday (March 25), a judge dismissed the case three NYC beachgoers raised against Cardi and her sister Hennessy Carolina after a verbal altercation in the Hamptons in September 2020. The three individuals, including one person wearing a Make America Great Again hat, claimed Hennessy spat on them and engaged in insulting and threatening behavior.

The three people also claimed Hennessy called the group “racist, MAGA supporters” and, in their lawsuit, claimed being called “racist” was defamatory. In sum, the three sued for assault and battery.

Cardi, who wasn’t present at the altercation, shared a video of the incident on Twitter and claimed the harassment was towards Hennessy and her girlfriend and the two were defending themselves.

“Nooooo that big pink man was harassing my sister girlfriend to move her car for no reason,” she began. “Then my sister came there had a back and forth and they stood quit when she Wip that phone out. They was harassing 2 Women ! Ya going to catch the right fuckin one !”

Ultimately, a trial judge sided with Cardi and Hennessy, stating “racist” is a general insult and it doesn’t merit the level required for defamation. Additionally, the assault and battery charge was also dismissed. The judge declared it was unclear if Hennessy had any intent to spit on the three people. The judge even noted in the plaintiffs’ lawsuit the allegation of intent was never brought up.

The lawsuit victory adds to a continuing list of wins for Cardi. On Thursday (March 24), she took to social media after the Recording Industry Association of America confirmed all 14 songs from her 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy had gone platinum, making her the first artist ever to have every song from an album receive a platinum plaque.
