Cardi B has been granted an extension after failing to complete community service relating to her 2018 strip club assault case.
According to TMZ, the “WAP” rapper appeared in court on Tuesday (January 17) due to not carrying out any of the 15 hours of community service she was ordered to complete last year. After failing to meet the initial deadline, the judge gave her a new date of March 1 to complete her sentence.

Cardi B’s attorney Drew Findling said: “Personally and professionally, Cardi is dedicated to community service and charitable endeavors. She therefore appreciates the court giving her until March 1 to complete her community service commitment in Queens, New York.”

The Bronx native arrived in court wearing a fur coat over a skintight dress, along with Louboutin heels and Christian Dior sunglasses.

Cardi B reached a plea deal in the strip club assault case last September, in which she pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and reckless endangerment. As a result, she was given 15 days of community service and ordered to stay away from the victims for three years.

The 30-year-old was arrested in October 2018 after allegedly ordering an attack on two bartenders known as Jade and Baddie G at Angels in Flushing, New York. She reportedly accused one of the women of sleeping with Offset; a brawl broke out with chairs, hookah pipes and tables being thrown, resulting in one of the women being injured.

Cardi initially pleaded not guilty in 2019 and was facing 12 charges, including two counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury.

“Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions,” she said after being ordered to complete community service. “As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instil in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to.”

She continued: “These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most — music and my fans.”

Outside of her legal troubles, Cardi B recently sparked excitement for her long-awaited sophomore album via a mysterious Instagram page. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the Grammy-winner had started following a page called @albumcb2, which itself follows just one person: Cardi.

While the account has yet to upload a post or change its profile picture, it did reshare a photo of the Bardi Gang leader in the studio, which was originally posted by label executive/A&R Brooklyn Johnny. “Y’ALL READY?! #CardiB,” he wrote in his caption.

Cardi’s new album — the follow-up to her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy — is expected to arrive in “early 2023” via Atlantic Records.
