Busunya youth apprehend three alleged murder suspects
Angry youth of Busunya concerned about the death of a 33-year old colleague have arrested three suspects who allegedly hanged one Karim Abubakari to death on a cashew tree last Saturday.
The sad but dramatic incident occurred at Bomiri near Busunya in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East Region.
Chief inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday in Sunyani.
He said one Stephen Baffoe reported the incident to the Busunya Police at about 1450 hours on that fateful day and the Police proceeded to the scene at the outskirt of Bomiri and found deceased hanging with his tongue protruding and with a swollen neck.
Chief Inspector Oppong said a close examination of deceased’s body did not reveal any marks of assault, although the body was closed to the ground.
He said around 1730 hours the angry youth numbering about two hundred arrested three suspects who are residents of Busunya on suspicion of having murdered deceased.
They are Kwabena Adu, aged 54 and an uncle of the deceased, Attakorah Bempa, 58 years and one other person whose name was not readily available.
Chief Inspector Oppong said had it not been the timely intervention of the Police, the youth would have lynched the suspects on their way to the Police Station.
He said the Police had to call in re-enforcement from Nkoranza to bring the situation under control, adding that, the body of the deceased have since been deposited at the Saint Theresa’s Catholic Hospital mortuary for preservation, pending autopsy.
Chief Inspector Oppong said upon interrogations, the suspects gave conflicting and incriminating accounts of the incident.
Meanwhile, the suspects were on Monday, June 17, 2019 appeared before a Magistrate Court at Nkoranza where they were remanded into Police custody to reappear on Tuesday, June 25, this year.
