Brenda Song Says It’s ‘Incredible’ to See Disney Alums Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus ‘Getting the Flowers They Deserve’ (Exclusive)

Brenda Song is “incredibly proud” of her fellow Disney alums.

While talking about her new Netflix series Running Point at The Paley Center for Media in New York City on Feb. 25, the 36-year-old actress exclusively shared with PEOPLE how she feels about Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and other former Disney stars achieving success nowadays.

“It is so incredible. Seeing my contemporaries growing up, it’s like the most beautiful thing,” says Song, who played London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and its spinoff from 2005 to 2011. “I’ve been fortunate to run into Selena [amid] all this craziness, and I’m just so incredibly proud.”

Gomez, 32, has found success in the TV and movie industries — most recently winning outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series at the 2025 SAG Awards for Only Murders in the Building and earning best supporting actress nominations throughout awards season for that show as well as her role in the musical crime film Emilia Pérez.

“They’re finally getting the flowers that they deserve,” Song continues, referring to 32-year-old “Flowers” singer Cyrus and other Disney alums.
This year, Cyrus won a Grammy for best country duo/group performance for her feature on Beyoncé’s “II Most Wanted” and was nominated at the Golden Globes for best original song in a motion picture for “Beautiful That Way,” which was in The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson.
Song adds, “They’re also such talented women, and to see them transition from children to young adults to adulthood is absolutely beautiful — and seeing them doing it with such grace has been fantastic.”

Meanwhile, Song’s professional and personal life is blossoming. The mom of two kids, with fiancé Macaulay Culkin, is co-starring in the Netflix sports comedy Running Point, alongside Kate Hudson.

Netflix has touted Running Point, which is loosely based on the life story of L.A. Lakers President Jeanie Buss, as a “twist on the underdog comedy.”

Song plays Ali Lee, the chief of staff of the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise, while Hudson, 45, plays Isla Gordon, who is appointed the team’s president after a scandal forced her brother to resign.

Running Point premiered Feb. 27 on Netflix.
