Boakye Agyarko fulfills ‘Mahindra promise’ to Krobo Girls

Krobo Girls Senior High School now has a brand new Mahindra 4X4 pickup and Ghc5000 worth of fuel coupons to facilitate its movement, thanks to the benevolence of the former energy minister who has made good his promise to donate a vehicle to the school located at Odumase-Krobo in the eastern region.

Mr. Boakye Agyarko on Sunday before a colourful gathering of 1610 first and second year students and staff, graced with splendid performances from the school’s cadet, brigade, school band and choir, donated the vehicle in fulfilment of his pledge to the school during its 92nd speech and prize giving day to donate a vehicle to address the transportation needs of students, teachers and non-teaching staff.

“I made a solemn vow to you when I visited you the last time,” said Mr. Agyarko. “I heard what you needed and I felt it was within my means to provide it to you”.

The donation made on behalf of the Agyarko family followed persistent appeals by students and teachers to overcome transportation challenges that were affecting the general progress of the Institute.

Presenting the bus to the headmistress of the school, Betty Aduhene-Chinduah, the former energy minister whose mother was a student of Krobo Girls enjoined the students to strive forward in their fields of endeavour to ensure their future success.

Headmistress of the school, Betty Aduhene-Chinduah who recalled several assistances given the school by the former energy minister, expressed her profound gratitude to Mr. Boakye Agyarko and called on him to continue to support the school.

“Honourable Agyarko promised that before September, we’ll have a pickup. We’re in June but the pickup is already here. We are so grateful,” Madam Aduhene-Chinduah averred, recounting how he also donated a sum of five thousand cedis, sugar and maths textbooks for use by the teachers and to help the students.

The pickup, she added would aid in the transportation of staff for various official duties and also carry students to health facilities for medical care aside other official duties.

She however appealed to government and relevant stakeholders to support the school build dormitory and classroom blocks since current provisions were inadequate.

y and charged the students to emulate the example of the Agyarko family by giving back to society in the future.

She also charged the Management and drivers of the vehicle to ensure its proper maintenance to serve its purpose as it was their sole responsibility to do so.

Meanwhile, Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo, Simon Kweku Tetteh presented two laptops to the school for use by the representatives of the school in the 2019 National Science and Maths Quiz in fulfillment of a promise made to the school.

This followed the qualification of the school from the Eastern region, to the national competition, after eliminating other schools in the region to sail through.

The MCE in an interview said the laptops will aid the preparations of the students through research to help them bring success to Lower Manya Krobo.

Also present at the ceremony were MCE for Lower Manya Krobo, Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Yilo Krobo, Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, Veronica Akoshia Tetteh, Yilo Krobo Municipal Education Director, board members of Krobo Girls and some NPP constituency party executives
