Ariana Grande Celebrates 10th Anniversary Of Mac Miller Duet: ‘I Love You’

Ariana Grande has found a really sweet way of paying tribute to her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, and the 10th anniversary of their 2013 smash hit “The Way.”

It’s been nearly a decade since Ariana Grande burst onto the scene with her breakthrough hit, 2013’s “The Way” off her debut album Yours Truly, which boasts a feature from Mac Miller. On Sunday (March 26), an Ariana Grande fan account (@honeymoonavenue) posted a clip of the music video in honor of its 10-year anniversary.

The “Positions” singer reposted the video to her Instagram stories, writing in the post’s caption, “I love you.” After reposting the video, the singer chose to double down on her words, going as far as commenting on the post, writing again, “I love you.”

Following its release, “The Way” became Grande and Miller’s first top 10 song on the Billboard Hot 100. It was eventually certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Pittsburgh native and Grande dated from September 2016 until May 2018. Shortly after they split, news broke that the singer had begun dating comedian Pete Davidson, and later got engaged.

Around that same time in 2018, Mac Miller died from an accidental overdose. He was only 26 years old.

Grande and Davidson called it quits not too long after, bringing an end to their high-profile engagement as Ariana mourned the loss. By 2021, the singer had married a luxury real estate agent named Dalton Gomez

This wasn’t the first time Ariana paid tribute to her late ex. In 2020, the singer teamed up with Thundercat — who’s also a friend and collaborator of Miller’s — to perform his 2017 Drunk single “Them Changes” for the Adult Swim Festival.

“It feels like Ariana and I are forever connected through Mac,” Thundercat said in a press release. “And this is part of the healing process.”

Following the performance — which also featured musicians JD and Domi — Thundercat found himself a trending Twitter topic as the social media platform erupted with praise for the duo’s duet.

Comments such as “I bet Mac would have been proud as fuck of this performance” and “I just watched the performance and I think I transcended during the instrumental break” lit up the platform most of Friday evening while people dreamed of a Thundercat and Ariana Grande collaborative album.
